About us

Oxford Gospel Choir, now in its 18th year, is a community choir where everyone is welcome to join us in singing a repertoire of uplifting, inspirational and life-affirming Gospel and popular music.
We're a friendly and social group of Oxfordshire-based singers of all beliefs, ages and abilities, who embrace the community and fun spirit of getting together each week to sing.
We follow the traditional Gospel teaching methods of listening and copying, so no music scores are used in rehearsals (although we do get lyrics and rehearsal tracks to practise with at home). This means our songs are embedded in our memories and we are free to dance and groove about, communicating our joy in music.
By the way, we sound pretty good too! Not to boast, but we are joint holders of the current Guinness World Record for the largest ever Gospel choir performance – participating with around 1200 other singers.

Our previous performances include:

  • Annual Summer, Easter and Christmas Charity Concerts

  • Cowley Road Carnival

  • Oxford Christmas Lights Festival

  • Last Choir Standing and BBC Choir of the Year competitions

  • London Community Gospel Choir’s 30th Anniversary Concert at the Royal Festival Hall

For upcoming performances please check out our Gigs page.

We are also the home to the Oxford Gospel Events Choir, a smaller session choir within the community choir that can be booked for events.
